How 2027 works in Mexico

Mexico has 6 public holidays in 2027, taken from the official government list. 1 falls on a weekend.

Leave rules differ by employer and contract in Mexico, so the planner shows every budget from one to ten days. Among the 16 countries we cover outside our main markets, Mexico ranks number 16 for full days off this year.

2 more days appear on the official list without counting here: Día del Trabajo (April 30, not a day off for most workers) and Año Nuevo (December 31, not a day off for most workers). The planner leaves them out so every break works for everyone in Mexico.

All public holidays 2027 in Mexico, one by one

Here is each day off in date order, what it marks, and the quickest way to turn it into a longer break.

  • Friday, January 1: Año Nuevo. New Year's Day follows the fireworks at midnight and is a quiet day of rest across the country. You get 3 free days in a row, 1 to 3 January, with no leave needed.
  • Monday, February 1: Día de la Constitución. Constitution Day on the first Monday of February marks the 1917 constitution and gives Mexico a winter long weekend, ideal for the beaches. You get 3 free days in a row, 30 January to 1 February, with no leave needed.
  • Monday, March 15: Natalicio de Benito Juárez. Benito Juárez's birthday is honored on the third Monday of March. The long weekend marks the start of spring and of beach season. You get 3 free days in a row, 13 to 15 March, with no leave needed.
  • Thursday, September 16: Día de la Independencia. Independence Day on 16 September follows El Grito the night before, with fireworks, mariachi and pozole in every town square. Take Friday, September 17 off and you have 4 days in a row, 16 to 19 September.
  • Monday, November 15: Día de la Revolución. Revolution Day on the third Monday of November marks the 1910 revolution and creates the long weekend of El Buen Fin, Mexico's big shopping event. You get 3 free days in a row, 13 to 15 November, with no leave needed.
  • Saturday, December 25: Navidad. Christmas Day is a day for family meals and church, with nearly everything closed. Leave in the week after it gives a long winter break. It falls on a Saturday, and Mexico's list has no weekday in lieu for it in 2027.

With 1 day of leave the longest run you can build is 4 days, 16 to 19 September. Three days stretch to 6 days off (11 to 16 September). Five days, a typical week, become 10 days off around Año Nuevo, 1 to 10 January.

Ten days, the most this planner books in one go, give 17 days in a row, 1 to 17 January. For nine days or more away you need 4 days of leave.

Long weekend ideas from Mexico

Mexicans spend long weekends in Oaxaca for food and culture, on the beaches of the Riviera Maya and Puerto Escondido in the dry season, and in San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato for colonial charm in any season.

Your strongest breaks this year fall in December, January and March, so pick the trip that suits that season, and book early: everyone else in Mexico has the same days off.

Mexico in other years

2026 and 2028 are planned as well, each with its own dates and breaks.

Holiday dates move every year: fixed-date days change their weekday, and Easter moves between late March and late April, which is why the best breaks are never the same twice.

Where these dates come from

Every date on this page comes from the official source for Mexico, read directly and compared day by day with an independent second source. A year appears once its official list is published, and we never fill a gap with another country's dates.

The planner treats weekends and full public holidays as free days and works out where your days of leave turn into the longest time off. Days kept in part of Mexico or as observances are shown but never counted. Last checked on October 1, 2026.
