An AI trip planner that turns one sentence into a plan on the map

Published 4 October 2026 · HolidayWow editors

Type or say the trip the way you would tell a mate about it. HolidayWow reads the place, the month, the group and the pace from that sentence and lays the days out as a route on the map, ready to edit, price and book.

How an AI trip planner reads one sentence

A sentence such as "a week in Hawaii with the kids in spring break" already holds the place, the length, the travellers and the timing. HolidayWow pulls each of those out and uses them to set the first draft of the trip, rather than asking you to fill in a long form field by field.

The pace of the trip comes from the same reading: relaxed (1 to 2 stops a day), balanced (2 to 3 stops) or packed (3 to 5 stops). You can leave the pace as read or change it for the whole trip or for one day at a time once the plan is on screen.

The plan lands on a map, not in a list

Every day of the trip is a route on the map, with a pin for each stop and a travel time on every leg between them. You can see at a glance whether a day is tight or loose, and where the next base sits relative to the last one.

Door to door, the trip includes the ride to the airport, the flight and the transfer to the first stay, so the first day of the plan matches the first day of the actual trip rather than starting once you land.

Los Angeles in October, built from one line

Type "ten days in Los Angeles in October" and the plan sets days around 27°C with nights near 15°C, a sea at 19°C, 10 hours of sun and 2 rain days across the month, an easy month for beach mornings and busy afternoons without the summer heat. The plan draws the whole trip as a route before a single booking is made, so the shape of the days is clear well before the flight itself is chosen.

Each day card updates once dates are added, with the weekday, the live weather and the live prices for that stay or tour attached to the card itself, so the plan keeps matching the actual conditions as the trip date gets closer.

From a thought to a trip.

You say how you want to travel.

When, who with, what matters and what's a no. No form, no ten filters. HolidayWow understands the dates, budget, departure point, pace and wishes from one sentence.

Changing the plan after it is drawn

Drag a stop to a different day, swap one place for another, or thin out a day that looks heavy on the map, and the plan checker re-orders the remaining stops so the travel times still line up.

A getaway to Bali, with the wet season in view

Bali in February runs around 28°C by day and 24°C overnight, with the sea at 29°C, 6 hours of sun and 26 rain days across the month, warm enough for pool afternoons between the showers that define the wet season there.

Stays, tours and transport for a trip like this come from partners (Booking.com, GetYourGuide, Viator, Trip.com, flight partners) and show a live price or a "Check live price" button on the card, with booking happening from inside the same plan.

Sharing the plan with everyone going

One link opens the identical plan for every traveller, with roles set for who can view and who can edit. Group members can vote on a stop they like or leave a comment on a day, and the costs of shared stays and tours can be split across the group.

Built for Australian travel patterns

With around 20 days of annual leave typical in Australia, the Long Weekend planner turns public holidays and leave days into longer trips using official holiday dates. Because school holidays run on different weeks by state, a plan built from "10 days in Bali in the September school holidays" uses the dates that matter to your state rather than a generic month.

Easter and the four state school holiday blocks (autumn, winter, spring, summer) are read the same way a destination or a month would be, as part of the sentence you type.

Watching the trip before you take it

Once the plan is built, it can play back as a short trip film on the map: the flight arc from home, each base you stay in and each day laid out in order. It is a quick way to check the shape of the whole trip at once, and it can be shared the same way as the plan itself.

Large text and voice input are built in for travellers who prefer them, so describing a trip, reading a day card or asking the assistant for a change works the same way whether you type, speak or read in a larger size.

An AI trip planner that turns one sentence into a plan on the map: frequently asked questions

What is an AI trip planner?

It is a tool that reads a plain sentence, such as a place, a month and who is travelling, and builds a day-by-day plan on a map from it, with editable stops, live weather and real partner prices rather than a list you have to arrange yourself.

Is HolidayWow free to use?

The app is free to download and to plan with. Building and editing the plan has no cost; booking happens through partner links in Australian dollars when you choose to.

Can I change the plan after it is generated?

Yes. Drag a stop to another day, swap a place, or change the pace, and the plan checker re-orders the day so everything still fits together after the change.

Does the plan include booking, or just suggestions?

Stays, tours and transport appear with live prices from partners such as Booking.com, GetYourGuide, Viator and Trip.com, and booking happens through the same link inside the plan.

Where do the climate numbers come from?

Day and night temperature, sea temperature, sunshine hours and rain days for every month come from NASA POWER (air, 2006 to 2025) and NOAA OISST (sea, 1991 to 2020).

Can a group plan a trip together in the app?

Yes. One link opens the same plan for everyone, with roles for viewing and editing, voting and comments on stops, and cost splitting for shared stays and tours.

Do I need exact dates to start planning?

No. A trip can start with a month alone. Adding dates later brings in the weekday, live weather and live prices for each day card.
